Influenced by the distinguished German contemporary painter Strawalde (Jürgen Böttcher) and the best-known Austrian informal painter Hermann Nitsch, Elfriede Otto now follows new avenues.
Her spontaneous style of painting enables her to create a vigorous, informal art which she develops further continuously. Her predominantly representational pictures reveal touches, traces, memories of organic and crystalline forms and a strong love of nature. What both her aquatint etchings and Unicums have in common is the transparency, the spatial depth and the complexity, which are characteristic of Elfriede Otto’s work.
